Energy Performance Certificates (EPC's) are required when selling or renting a property. An EPC is intended to provide an assessment of the energy performance of a property and how it can be improved. When an EPC survey is performed it is a non-intrusive procedure which basically means the assessor will gain information for your certificate purely from observation, no need to drill holes in walls or remove property features. The only access a surveyor will need is to your loft space (if you have one)!
All surveys are covered by STROMA public and professional liability insurance and as a qualified DEA I am bound by an industry code of conduct, therefore providing you with piece of mind.
PLEASE ALSO NOTE THAT SURVEYS CAN ONLY BE CARRIED OUT WITH THE SPECIFIC AGREEMENT OF THE PROPERTY OWNER AND ONLY IF THERE IS AN ADULT OR PERSON OVER 16 PRESENT AT THE TIME OF THE SURVEY.
The EPC is attatched to the property NOT the occupant, and is valid for up to 10 years.
All records of the EPC survey are kept by the assessor for 10 years and the survey is logged on the national EPC register which you can find by visiting www.epcregister.com
You can get more information about EPC at www.gov.uk/buy-sell-your-home/energy-performance-certificates
